Our purpose and ethos
At the heart of G.U.I.D.E. is a simple promise: to help — not to boss, watch, or report.
We believe in fostering independence and encouraging children to make positive choices because they want to, not because they feel observed.
“The G.U.I.D.E. Project also seeks to contribute insights into ethical, child-centered AI design for informal learning environments.”
This page outlines the principles and values guiding the G.U.I.D.E. Project as it continues to evolve.

What G.U.I.D.E. is
G.U.I.D.E. is envisioned as a friendly, AI-driven companion designed to gently encourage healthy habits and provide a positive presence during crucial after-school hours. It is a tool created to promote responsibility, spark curiosity, and build confidence in children.
Development is rooted in values of safety, consent, and approachability, ensuring G.U.I.D.E. remains a supportive and trusted part of family life. Above all, it is meant to feel calm, friendly, and encouraging—not instructional or authoritative.

What G.U.I.D.E. is not
G.U.I.D.E. is not a replacement for parents or guardians. It is not a surveillance or monitoring system, and it is not a “tattle-tale,” disciplinary, or enforcement tool.
“As outlined throughout this site, G.U.I.D.E. does not monitor, track, or report behavior.”
Its purpose is only encouragement and support. We are committed to an ethical approach that respects family privacy and a child’s autonomy at every stage of development.

Why G.U.I.D.E. exists
Many children spend significant time at home after school before caregivers return from work. G.U.I.D.E. was conceived as a positive and encouraging presence during these hours—helping children explore interests, build healthy habits, and gain confidence in ways that feel empowering rather than enforced.
The goal is to support independence, well-being, and calm discovery in everyday life.
An Open, Evolving Project
G.U.I.D.E. is an early-stage concept—not a finished product for sale—but an ongoing exploration. We are actively seeking thoughtful collaboration and feedback from parents, educators, child-development specialists, and technology innovators.
Your insights help shape how supportive AI can best serve families and communities.
